Amenities

D&D Missionary Homes is more than just a collection of houses. It’s a community. We offer so many amenities that will make you feel right at home!

Housing

D&D is located on a quiet, nicely landscaped, four block city campus in the beautiful Tampa Bay area on the sunny west-central coast of Florida. When a missionary arrives, they find a fully furnished, air conditioned, clean, and comfortable, one to five bedroom home that is nicely decorated and ready for you to move in. Each home is equipped with all the necessary furniture including couches, chairs, end tables and bookshelves.

You’ll also find the homes have multiple size beds, dressers, lamps, TV & VCR, telephone, large & small appliances, and most of the amenities you’d expect in your home. We also include all the necessary linens, towels and bedding material you’ll need. Most of the larger homes also contain a washer & dryer and extra set of good china to promote fellowship with other missionary families and guests.

The kitchens feature a lovely dinette set of table and chairs as well as microwave, toaster, refrigerator, electric can opener, full set of dishes and silverware, and all the pots & pans. All it needs…. Is YOU!

Playground

This location quickly becomes the gathering place for most of the younger generation. Filled with clean, white beach sand, the playground is equipped with plastic slides, swings, tree fort, caves, foot bridge, covered sandbox, and lots of toys.

This family friendly, safe environment is located in the heart of our campus. Surrounded by our main buildings and enclosed with a vinyl picket fence, the playground is well protected away from traffic and has wooden benches where mom and dad can observe all the activities. If you enjoy riding, bicycles are also available for all family members (big and little).

D&D’s MK program arranges for special field trips to places like the Clearwater Marine Science Aquarium, Kids Fire House Museum, local zoos, picnics, and weekly Bible Story times.

Office & WiFi

We offer all of your office needs: Wireless Internet Access (available campus wide), Notary, Fax, Copier, letter folding machine, postal material, laminator, personal mailbox, etc.

Library

Currently stocked with over 8000 volumes of printed material, the library contains a vast wealth of information and is another of our multipurpose facilities. Our bookshelves cover a wide variety of literature including novels, study & reference material both secular and religious, world history, social science, maps, arts & recreation, philosophy, languages, general works, and a complete children’s section.

We also have many Christian and secular magazines & periodicals available along with two daily newspapers available. Many families & individuals take advantage of our excellent library resources, especially those involved in home schooling. D&D’s library has a wide selection of helpful instructional material for school-age children. In addition to the printed material, our library distributes many types of instructional, educational, informational, and family entertainment videos as well as CD and audio cassettes of a variety of music. Bible study material, and audio books are also available for check out. In fact, we have more than 3500 audio tape messages by outstanding evangelists, pastors, and Bible nationally known teachers available for missionaries seeking to increase their Bible knowledge.

There are computers located in the library to use for correspondence, sermon preparation, church newsletters, prayer sheets, email contacts, and home schooling work. On Wednesday mornings, one of our staff members transforms the library into the location of our Children’s Bible Story time. This special activity helps missionary children adjust to their new surroundings here in the US with others their own age and in the same situation.

Story Time offers Biblical encouragement, stories, music, instruction, and just plain fun to all who attend. On occasion, some of the D&D staff participate in the program by providing music.

Clothing Center

Besides our housing, our clothing center is one of the best benefits for missionaries and pastors. Here you’ll find quality, clean, sized, sorted, and displayed clothing for all seasons and for every member of the family. Whether you need dress or casual clothing, shirts, skirts, suits, dresses, gowns, pants, coats, sweaters, hats, gloves, or just about anything else, you’ll likely find it available.

Accessories including jewelry, wallets, pocketbooks, umbrellas, shoes, ties, and even suitcases are waiting to meet the needs of the hundreds of visiting missionaries. The savings are substantial, especially to families with growing children. Access to the clothing center is available to ALL active and retired evangelical missionaries and pastors with verification of status. Countless missionaries have benefited from the clothing center.

Food Pantry

Each week, several of the area food stores show their “southern hospitality” by donating a variety of breads, rolls, pastries, fresh fruit, vegetables, candy, cakes and pies along with an assortment of other products that are made freely available to our missionary guests. On occasion, church groups will donate a variety of coupons, paper products, can goods, baby items, and other items in addition to food supplies.

Laundry

There are two centrally located facilities on campus. Both come complete with several washers and dryers, deep sinks, and outside clotheslines for hanging out the wash. While the laundry is a busy working area, it’s not unusual to see missionaries sharing testimonies, trials, blessings, and “fellowshipping” while completing the weekly laundry task.

The Haven

Our chapel multipurpose building can accommodate just over 125 people. D&D is not a church and has no Sunday or Wednesday programs. D&D’s motto, “WATCH GOD WORK” is prominently displayed in the beautiful stained glass window seen when entering the building.

We do occasionally have chapel programs. Our programs vary and may include a missionary trying out that new presentation or a special guest from the community or a local church. Other guest speakers or musicians provide variety for missionaries, staff, volunteers, and other community people.

As a multipurpose building, it may be used for indoor picnics, food distribution, or small group activities. Group dinners for our campus guests and staff are provided in the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. It’s a special time here during the Christmas season when the chapel is used as a central location for picking out Christmas trees, decorations, and gifts. Area churches often supply treats and gifts for the missionary children who often number about 60.

The building is also used for weekly benefit sales to help offset missionary costs.
